The Jurong Bird Park is regarded as the largest open park in the Asia
Pacific. It is home to over 600 species of birds. Guests can admire
over 8,000 flying creatures at the same time while being entertained
and educated about them.
The comical parrot circus and the bird of
prey in the King of the Skies show provide lots of entertainment for
the entire family. It is fun filled and full of exciting wonders.
At the Pools Amphitheatre the bird shows are filled with both
impressive and humorous birds to provide lots of fun especially for
children. The birds featured include flamingos, macaws, hornbills and
cockatoos. Each visitor that arrives at the park stares in amazement
as they observe the birds of prey in action; in the 'Fuji World of
Hawks' show!
There is a Penguin Parade enclosure located in a re-modelled Antarctic
setting. You can find more that 200 penguins of 5 different species
in the setting. In addition, you can find about 50 other sea birds
such as the Inca terns and puffins within this same setting. Another
eye catching exhibit is the multi coloured Hornbills and Toucans
exhibits. This includes the largest collection of Southeast Asian
Hornbills in the world.
Within the Southeast Asian Birds Aviary you can find 24 individual
aviaries and a main walk-in aviary, 100 plus species of birds from the
equatorial jungles of Southeast Asia. In this display the natural
equatorial habitat is re modelled with artificially stimulated
tropical thunderstorms everyday at noon.
Of probably the most beautiful section of the part lays the Waterfall
aviary. You can find more than 1,500 free-flying African birds
residing here. The area is and enclosed portion of the park containing
a lot of small tropical birds and a magnificent man-made waterfall.
The native bird of Australia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea will
present its wonderful environment Lory loft. When visiting the Lory
loft you will be viewing from a tree top level to give the best
viewing experience of the Lory's spectular nesting and living habits.
One of the newest additions to the Jurong Bird Park is an all new
beakfast program with an entire star-studded bird cast. The programme
is referred to as "Pelicans, Parrots and Prate" and occurs at the
Songbird Terrace overlooking the Flamingo Lake.
The show starts at around 9.30 am for public entertainment while
breakfast is made available from 8 am to 10.30 am. There is still
another feature that we didn't speak about that was also recently
added to the bird park; The Riverine. It is a simulated natural
freshwater river environment with over 20 species of ducks, fishes and
turtles.
You can have an absolutely fascinating time while touring the bird
park aboard the modern, air-conditioned panorail system. It travels
the entire park providing you with a breathtaking sky view of all the
offerings. After, you can take another tour on foot by using the
footpaths and a map of the park.
